Katharine Diane McCallum

And I promise you, something great will come of it." - Benjamin Mee   Katharine Diane McCallum has lived a life in which she has followed her passions and worked hard to achieve her goals. With heavy interest in both dancing and philanthropy, Katharine is a believer that the dance can be used to help those who are less fortunate to learn skills and the discipline needed to achieve their goals, whatever they may be. Katharine is currently a student at the University of Mississippi and graduated from the Trinity Valley School in 2013, where she achieved recognition such as a Cum Laud award on the National Latin Exam. She also earned recognition in physics due to her successful building of a rubber band car in 2011.   While Katharine Diane McCallum has always done well in school, her truest passion has always been dancing. Katharine has studied dancings since she was 2 years old and has danced both competitively as well as for sport. She has danced competitively for over 11 years and has been seriously dancing for the love of it for over 14. Katharine excelled at competitive dancing to such an extent that during her 9th year of competition, she was invited by her studio to attend a week-long dancing intensive program in Los Angeles. While there, she traveled around the city learning about dance while also taking dance classes from some of the most famous dancers in the country. This experience not only deepened her love for the sport, but also gave her some ideas about how she could use dancing to help other people.   Along with her philanthropic work involving dancing, Katharine Diane McCallum is also using her college experience to do good. She is part of Pi Beta Phi and is a strong supporter of their Read, Lead, Achieve philanthropy for helping children fight illiteracy in the local area as well as around the country.
